I’ll never forget the days of waiting for my children to be born. I spent so much time decorating their nurseries; buying toys, clothes, diapers and all the latest gadgets; and I would daydream and wonder of who they would be. What would they love? What would they hate? How would they look when they were grown? Who would they become?
There are so many things unknown to us when our children are born. We get the joy of watching their lives unfold day by day. And those days become months, months become years, and before you know it they are grown and many of those questions have played out before our eyes.
Yet, before we were born, when our parents were wondering of our days and who we would become, God already had the answers. He already knew it all…
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Psalm 139:13-17 ESV
Did you catch that? He planned all my days before He even formed me into existence. He knew it all— Day One through the very last breath — before He even decided to begin working on the vessel that would become known as me.
He knew when He planned a little baby girl named Stephanie, who would fall in love with a boy named Rick, the marriage of these two people would face hard day but come out stronger than before.
He knew before my little hands had ever done a day of work my finances would need a miracle, and He planned the exact way He would cause it to happen.
He knew my faith would be challenged 39 years into the journey of life when I faced a diagnosis of breast cancer.
God already knew I would have doubts and fears. He knew I would be heartbroken when His plans differed from mine. He knew I would be outright rebellious and sin against Him.
He created me anyway
because to Him, I am worth it.
We all mess up, fall down and struggle to get back up. But God knew it all before He stretched out His hand to form us.
He knew you, His beautiful creation, would have
- Heartache
- Struggles with addiction
- Your spouse would have an affair
- Your children would live in rebellion
- Your friends would betray you
- Your health would be challenged
- Your finances would be stretched thin
But He created you anyway. He knew those things needed to happen. Why?
So you would:
- Cry out to Him
- Let Him hold you
- Let Him test you
- Let Him form you into what He purposed you to be
He doesn’t need you — He wants you
He could use anyone else, but no one else can give the testimony you can give
You were created for Him; your life reflects His goodness and mercy and grace.
When we feel like our life doesn’t make sense and we wonder why we are facing hard times, let us remember that God loves us, He wants us and He has planned every detail of our life to make us into the person He purposed us to be.
Father, thank you that you love us despite all our faults. Thank you that You truly and deeply want us. You have planned each step of our journey; help us to trust You when we don’t feel like we can understand. Thank you for loving us.

Thank you so much for taking time to read my blog. I appreciate your encouragement.
I love that God knew all our days before we were even born. It makes it seem less lonely, less scary. He’s been here before. He’s here with us now. And He knows what’s coming next. Thank you for your words today! #RaRaLinkup
I am so glad that God knows it all. Kind of takes a load off me to figure it out.
