What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 ESV
Verse Mapping
Today, we chose to take a look at the meaning of the scripture as a whole rather than defining words.
Reflect
Life is a continuous cycle with nothing new under the sun. It has all been said, done, and thought of before. There is nothing that would cause my circumstances to change the order of the universe. The laws and physics of nature and spirit were here before me and will continue regardless of the details I am facing.
God does not change. He is as He was. His promises are as they were. No new rules, no new changes. Always faithful and true.
Relate
Because there is nothing new, the circumstance we face, emotions we feel, choices we need to make, heartbreak weighing us down – all of it – it is not new to God. He has seen and heard it all before for generations upon generations. He is not taken off guard and there is nothing beyond His knowledge.
He is the same today as He has always been. His promises do not change. If His Word has promised something, then it is still a promise to day. When He promises to heal, comfort, deliver, save, forgive, and love – He means it and He does it…still, today.
So, when we face those choices, emotions, heartbreak, we can keep on pressing through. Keep on moving. Tomorrow will come. And God will still reign.
