Jehovah Rapha [yeh-ho-vaw’ raw-faw’ ] :: The Lord who heals
Rapha (râphâʼ) is a verb meaning to heal, make healthful, sew together or mend, cure.
God uses the term Rapha to describe Himself in Exodus:
“ ‘saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord , your healer.” ‘
Exodus 15:26 ESV
The term “rapha” is used 69 times throughout scripture and refers to God healing His people.
There are many times in my life I have needed healing, but none more so than when I was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer in 2012.
That experience was absolutely the hardest season I have ever walked through, but God was faithful to be Jehovah Rapha in the middle of a very dark time.
Healing isn’t only for our physical bodies. We can also find healing for relationships, emotional or mental struggles, financial hardships, and even spiritual healing.
God is not limited in the ways He can bring healing into your life. There are no conditions placed on Jehovah Rapha. He is simply the Lord who heals.
There are several scriptures you can find about God’s ability to heal. Here are a few to get your study started:
Isaiah 53:5
Jeremiah 17:14; 30:17
