For we are slaves. Yet our God has not forsaken us in our slavery, but has extended to us his steadfast love before the kings of Persia, to grant us some reviving to set up the house of our God, to repair its ruins, and to give us protectiona] in Judea and Jerusalem. Ezra 9:9 ESV
Reflect/Verse Mapping
We were slaves to sin, yet God did not abandon us to the sin and give up on reconciling with us. He showed His unchanging love for us and restored our relationship with Him and returned to us eternal life. Let us build up His church – the body of Christ – by telling others of His grace, mercy, and unfailing love. (Based on verse map of Ezra 9:9 – see picture)
Relate
God’s love for us is so deep He gave up His only Son, Jesus, to restore eternal life to us – even though we were far from Him enjoying life and giving no thought to His sacrifice.
He could have given up on us, turned His back and walked away. But instead He gave; gave all He had to give. He risked it all on the Cross in the hope that one day we would say “Yes” to Him.
Such amazing love! How can we not tell others?
Pray
Jesus, thank You for not giving up on me. Thank You for pursuing me, loving me, and dying on the Cross to bring me back to You. Thank you for Your amazing love. Help me find someone to share Your love with today. In Jesus’ name – Amen.
