There are days I look out the window and the view bears witness there is so much more beauty waiting. It shouts, “This isn’t your home. You are still traveling through. But keep going, daughter, you’re almost there.”
I believe there is the same longing for something more planted deep within each of us, knowing this isn’t our home.
Life can be hard on normal regular, everyday days, but even more so in 2020 with all the confusion and fear surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic, the hotly debated social issues, and the intense presidential election.
Now more than ever you may feel a sense of longing for something more. Like maybe you’re missing out or like there has to be something yet to come from all life has to offer at the moment.
Or maybe you desperately need hope—hope that the darkness won’t swallow you, the anxiety and depression will lift, and hope there is still goodness to be found…in others and within yourself. Hope that at the end of this life, all the hard will have been worth it.
Hope for more yet to come.
The truth is: there is more. So much more. We have within us this longing because this isn’t our final destination. We are just passing through.
As the end of this year quickly closes, yet the days linger slowly, we don’t have to fear or fret, we can have hope and expectant anticipation for that which is to come.
Don’t get discouraged. This isn’t your home. You are still traveling through. But keep going, daughter, you’re almost there.
“Jesus, the One who says these things are true, says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”
